Personally improve, showcase and learn what it takes to play at the collegiate level from top college coaches guided by the “Villanova Way” curriculum at Villanova Soccer Training Center (VSTC).

For developing soccer players of all ages, Villanova men’s soccer head coach Tom Carlin has developed a curriculum drawn from his years of coaching expertise earned in the Big East & Big Ten Conferences.

“We want to provide every player with the confidence and mental awareness of the technical, tactical, physical and mental attributes they need to succeed at the next level”, Carlin states. “We have a strong opinion on the necessary skill-set required for college soccer and constructed a plan on how to develop it.”

The experience of attending a summer training academy can be extremely beneficial especially when there is a purposeful plan in place like VSTC. Able to get away from their comfort zone and be thrown into a collegiate environment full of the nation’s top coaches and educational instruction, a player will learn a great deal by attending the Villanova Soccer Training Center.

VSTC not only provides young players with the opportunity to train within a structured development plan in front of the best Division I, II & III college coaches, but it also offers a new “4 Days in the Life” program that literally provides you an actual look of what it is like to be a Villanova Soccer player. Held during the three residential sessions in July, the Villanova academy training will be a taste of what Villanova college soccer is all about. Throughout the camp, players will train with coach Carlin on the Villanova soccer fields, watch film to study the game, make goals for the week, and get a locker in the team’s locker rooms. It is literally a replica of what a normal week is like for a Villanova soccer player.

Another exciting aspect to the VSTC is the evening lectures with successful coaches from other top collegiate programs. Scheduled guest speakers include the former National Champion head coach Carlos Somoano (North Carolina), Tim Lenahan (Northwestern), National Champion Brad McCarty (Messiah College) & coach Carlin.   The topics covered will surely help you grow and mature as a player, and will also help you understand how the college recruitment process works.

The showcase element of the camp exist through the college coaches who will be working VSTC from UCLA, Akron, UCSB, Drexel, as well many others. Be sure to check out the list and schedule of these college coaches at the Villanova Soccer Training Center website.

Villanova Soccer is on the rise & it is fueled by the “Villanova Way” curriculum.  Differing from most styles of training, this particular method focuses on aspects used at the highest levels of the sport, including an aggressive style of defending and a relentless forward possession mentality with the ball. Soccer is about making the most of your chances, and this emphasis on possession in your opponent’s half will make the difference as you learn to attack with energy and poise. Helping players learn to always look up the field and keep the ball near the other team’s goal, this tactical approach to the game has been very successful.

And so if you or your child wishes to get a top caliber learning experience this summer, the Villanova Soccer Training Center provides the best program around.  Not only will you learn skills that will elevate your game to new heights, but also you will be taught from a group of the best college coaches around and get a glimpse of what life is like for a NCAA athlete. Who knows, you might just impress a coach into giving you an athletic scholarship as well.
