2016 Recruiting Overview: Men’s Big Ten
Since the arrival of Maryland to the Big Ten conference, the programs in the historically dominant college soccer conference have been increasing their attention to picking up top recruits. This season’s recruiting classes include a mix bag of players with a wide variety of backgrounds.
Maryland pulled in the top class in the conference with a couple of U.S. Youth National Team players among the seven players to give their verbal commitment to the Terps. Maryland also pulled in a youth international from Jamaica who has experience in the CONCACAF Championship.
Indiana reeled in an impressive class in its own right. The Hoosiers nabbed one of the top high school players in the country as well as a couple of players with U.S. Youth National Team experience.
Michigan and Michigan State also picked up impressive recruits for the 2016 class. Both landed players with youth national team experience as well as players highly regarded in MLS academies.
Penn State picked up one of the most notable names in the class with the younger brother of the quarterback joining the men’s soccer program. The Nittany Lions could be counting on him to make an immediate impact.
