2017 Boys Regional Rankings update

Each Friday following the Monday release of an IMG Academy 150 update, we highlight eleven of the regionally ranked players from around the country for that class.

GK Matt Freese, Penn Fusion – Freese conceded just one goal in group play at the USYS National Championships. His prowess in the goal has caught the eye of several top Division 1 programs.

D Nichols Szabo, Empire United – Szabo has earned the starting role in either central defense or holding midfield for the Empire United U18s.

D Edwin Munjoma, FC DallasMunjoma was named to the TDS Best XI for his play at left back during FC Dallas’ run in the DA Finals. Munjoma is verbally committed to SMU.

D Ian Mejia, Seattle United – Mejia played center back on the USYS National finalist Seattle United Copa that gave up just three goals throughout the tournament. He earned a spot on the TDS Best XI list for his stingy play.

M Aaron Burgess, IMG Academy – The speedy winger is a member of the Bermuda U18 MNT and according to his coach will be headed to League Championship club Huddersfield Town AFC in January of 2016.

M Samuel Elwood, Davis Legacy – Elwood, a workhorse in the midfield, is a TDS Combine alumna who received praise for his soccer acumen and solid first touch.

M Jeff Petroski, Capital Area Railhawks – CASL – The midfielder from Fayetteville, NC who commutes to practice in Raleigh, is a starter for the CASL U16 Development Academy. He spent a week training with Fulham FC last spring according to the Fayetteville Observer.

M Victor Pereya, Georgia United – Pereya is in his third year in the Development Academy for Georgia United. He started 32 matches for the U16s last season, and is starting again for the U16s for the 2015-16 season.

F Edward Bass, Dallas Texans – Bass moved to Dallas Texans from San Antonio Scorpions and had no problem with the transition, scoring all three goals for the Texans in their opening 3-0 defeat of Houston Dynamo.

F Zach Maas, Portland Timbers – Maas moved to the Portland Timbers Academy from Sparta United in Utah. He came off the bench for the Timbers U16s to score the first goal in a 2-1 win over Strikers earlier this season. Maas is verbally committed to Utah Valley University(m).

F Casimir Zekoua, DC United – Zekoua moved to DC United this season from Bethesda–Olney where he was a developmental player in the Academy and a full time player on BOSA’s Pre-Academy squad. Zekoua scored an average of a goal a game as a developmental player for the past two seasons.
