2018 Boys Regional Rankings Update

Each Friday following the Monday release of an IMG Academy 150 update, we highlight eleven of the regionally ranked players from around the country for that class. All were recommended for their respective regional lists by our network of scouts and coaches.

GK Victor Juarez, Santa Cruz Breakers – Before joining the Development Academy, Juarez was named to the ODP Region IV Tournament 18 team in January of 2015 and was a member of the U.S. U14 Boys National Team in 2013. Since then, he has been a starting goalkeeper for the Breakers U16s and has also started one match for the U18s.

D Benjamin Besteman, Alliance Pro 18 – Besteman stood out for his fearlessness and his ability to be in the right place at the right time on defense for Michigan’s 2000 ODP team at the 2016 ODP National Championships. He earned a spot on the TDS Best XI list for the event.

D Myers Martin, Carolina Rapids – The left-footed left back started 29 matches for the Rapids 16s during the 2015 regular season.

M/D Matt Solem, Chicago Magic PSG – Solem is a two-time alumnus of the TDS Unsigned Showcase (formerly TDS Combine) where he earned a spot on the Best XI list on both occasions. The center back and midfielder played in 18 matches for Magic’s U16 Development Academy team, helping them to a wildcard berth to the Academy playoffs.

M Stephen Nichols, Baltimore Armour – Nichols was part of the Baltimore Celtic soccer program before moving to Baltimore Armour this spring. He has played in one match for Armour’s U16s since joining in April, but has spent most of his time up with the 18s, starting the last six matches.

M Jacob Schulman, TSF Academy – The playmaking midfielder helped his team to a 2-1 record in group play at the 2016 Dallas Cup, earning nods from TopDrawerSoccer for his efforts.

M Yugo Suzuki, Richmond United – Suzuki was a standout at the Development Academy U14 Showcase in June of 2015. Now on Richmond’s U16 team, he played in 23 matches, starting 17, and scored a goal in their 5-1 win over Santa Cruz Breakers at the December showcase.

F Josh Santillan, Juventus SC – Santillan played in 30 matches for Juventus U16 Development Academy during the 2015-16 regular season, scoring eight goals.

F Carlos Reyes, United FA – Reyes was named to the Best XI list at two successive USYS National Championships, in 2014 and 2013, as well as the TDS best list at the 2016 ODP National Championships.

F Carter Clemmensen, SC Del Sol – Clemmensen was a part of the Real Salt Lake AZ Academy in 2015 before moving back to SC Del Sol in order to play high school soccer. He was named to the ODP Region IV Championship Tournament 18 team in 2015 and has already made a verbal commitment to UC Santa Barbara.

F Max Weinberg, Seattle Sounders – The 2000 birth year originally from Toronto made his debut for Canada’s U15 national team in August of 2015. He is a member of the Sounders U15 Academy.
