It is another busy weekend for the Development Academy with more U16 and U18 teams joining the fray in the second week of the season.

The Vancouver Whitecaps make a three-game swing through Northern California over the weekend. The Whitecaps face San Juan Soccer Club on Thursday before games against Cal Odyssey and San Jose Earthquakes over the weekend. For all of the clubs, these are the first games of the season for the U16 and U18 age groups.

Crossfire Premier is also taking on San Jose Earthquakes and Cal Odyssey over the weekend. The Quakes are hoping to get the season off on the right foot after adding some new pieces to the ranks during the offseason. Former U.S. U17 Men’s National Team forward Dalton Pando, a UC Santa Barbara verbal commit, is leading the attack for the Quakes U18 squad. U.S. U15 left back Edwin Lara will be playing up a few age groups when he suits up for the U16 squad this weekend. He is one to watch for Quakes fans.

Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders also make the trek to Northern California with games against Santa Cruz Breakers Academy and De Anza Force on the schedule. De Anza Force is coming off a season where its U16 and U18 teams both made Finals Week – many of the key contributors are back for another go in 2013-14, and trying to capture the National Championship this season.

In the Southwest Division, the U16 and U18 teams still have another week to wait before the season starts, but the U14 teams are rolling right along. LA Galaxy U14 hosts Santa Barbara Soccer Club on Saturday at the StubHub Center. San Diego Surf welcomes Central Coast Aztecs to the Polo Fields for the second games of the season for both teams.

Chicago Magic PSG completes its home fixtures against the St. Louis Scott Gallagher clubs when it hosts Metro on Saturday. Magic U18 beat Missouri 3-0 last week thanks to goals from Andrew Grabavoy, Dzenan Nezirevic, and Andrija Novakovich. Magic U16 was not as successful last week and lost 3-1 to Missouri, which offers a chance for a bounce back this weekend against Metro.

Crew Soccer Academy makes the trip to Minnesota this weekend for games against Minnesota Thunder Academy and Shattuck-Saint Mary’s Soccer Academy. CSA opened the season with wins in the U18 and U16 age groups. Devyn Etling did the damage in the U16 game with the 15-year-old recording a hat trick in the win over Indiana Fire Academy.

A Colorado derby between Real Colorado and Colorado Rush kicks off the weekend for the U16 and U18 age groups in the Frontier Division. Marco Toscano and Sam Tweeton lead the charge for Real Colorado U18.

Capital Area Railhawks Academy – CASL get their season started on Sunday with games against South Carolina United Battery Academy. U.S. U15 BNT striker Lucas Del Rosario is rostered with the CASL U16 side, which should make for a good challenge for him during this upcoming season.

Philadelphia Union looks to keep its perfect record intact when the club heads to New Jersey on Saturday for a game against Match Fit Academy FC. Between the three age groups, Union went 6-0-0 through the first weekend with 30 goals for and only two goals against.

FC Bolts are back in action this weekend after a successful start to the season for the U18 side. Bolts won 6-1 thanks to two goals a piece from Alex Ainscough, Mohamed Kenawy, and Harrison Swartz. This weekend, they take on Oakwood Soccer Club on the road.
