ECNL Preview: Return to action

Cold weather put a kibosh on the latest ECNL Event, but the schedule progresses and the teams continue to regular season play with a number of exciting fixtures dotting the docket for the first weekend of March.

U14

Solar Chelsea SC takes on Dallas Sting in a Texas Conference showdown on Sunday. Solar (12-1) is top of the table, but the gap is closing after the loss to FC Dallas right before the break. The Dallas Sting (9-3-1) defense led by goalkeepers Myah Selders, Abby DeLozier, and Yusra Whitmore have not let in a goal in the past four games.

In the Southeast Conference, division leader GSA (11-1-2) is battling Carolina Elite Soccer Academy and Charlotte Soccer Academy this weekend. This is the second meeting of the season between these teams after GSA beat both teams 2-1 back in October.

Crossfire Premier continues its slow burn to start the season with a pair of games this weekend. Crossfire hosts Utah Avalanche and FC Nova, which are the fifth and sixth games of the campaign for the Washington club.

U15

FC Virginia is trying to end its regular season campaign on a high note with games against Ohio Premier and Internationals SC over the weekend. FC Virginia (10-1-6) has one of the top defenses in the nation with only 15 goals conceded on the season.

Continental FC Delco hits the road this weekend for games against FSA FC and Connecticut FC. Delco (3-3) is just getting out of the gate and playing in its first ECNL games of 2015.

U16

Bethesda SC hosts Ohio Elite Soccer Academy and Indiana Fire Juniors over thee weekend. Bethesda (3-0-1) sits in fifth in the playoff standings at this point of the season. The Maryland squad has relied on Cameron Murtha for much of the scoring with three goals and three assists from the forward this year.

Boston Breakers host FC Bucks and Penn Fusion SA this weekend in Northeast Conference action. Breakers Academy (4-2) is riding a three-game winning streak into the start of March. Penn Fusion (2-1-3) is trying to put an end to that joy ride. Fusion’s defense has been stout with only eight goals conceded.

U17

Internationals SC hits the road for games against Maryland United and FC Virginia. Internationals (6-1) is one of the top teams in the U17 age group. Northern Kentucky commit Ally Perkins leads the squad in scoring with nine goals and two assists to her name.

U18

The much-celebrated PDA squad plays for the second time this season on Saturday against East Meadow Soccer Club. PDA won its opener 4-1 against World Class FC back in December.
