ECNL Recap: Getting the fireworks started

The Elite Clubs National League has been in action for a few weeks for some teams, while others are slowly tricking into the start of play. This past weekend featured a number of teams in play and some quality fixtures to match at this early stage of the season.

U14

After opening the season with two losses, Vardar bounced back over the weekend with big wins over FC Wisconsin Eclipse and Minnesota Thunder. Gabriala Jodzis notched a hat trick on Saturday to give Vardar a 6-1 win over FC Wisconsin. Jansen Eichenlaub and Sydney Hyatt scored the other goals for Vardar in the win. Jodzis kept the scoring rolling on Sunday with four goals against Minnesota Thunder. Paige Goodman and Haylee Renick-Schleick added the other goals for Vardar.

Bethesda SC also had a perfect record over the weekend with shutout wins over Internationals SC and OP Ohio Premier. Brooke Milligan scored the game-winner on Sunday against OP Ohio Premier in a 1-0 result. Carolyn Mang and Tatiana Ortega scored the goals on Saturday against Internationals SC.

FC Stars of Massachusetts continues to show that they might have the best offense in the nation with 20 goals from the first three games of the season. Over the weekend, Stars beat Scorpions SC 5-0 to improve to 3-0-0 on the season.

U15

Sporting Blue Valley notched a 3-2 win over Real Colorado on Saturday thanks to two goals from Madison Souder. Shelby Lierz scored the other goal for Sporting. Kellie Fothergill and Macy Trujillo had the assists. It was not a completely positive weekend though, as Colorado Storm trounced Sporting 5-1 on Sunday. Scoring sensation Elisabeth Geraghty scored twice for Strom in the win.

In Texas, FC Dallas and Dallas Texans battled to a scoreless draw. The dropped points for the Texans moved them out of the top spot, which Solar Chelsea Soccer Club now holds after a 2-1 win over TSC Hurricane.

De Anza Force rolled to a 8-1 win over MVLA on Saturday. Luca Deza and Kyla Fong both had two goals and two assists in the win. Samantha Tran added two goals and an assist. Reina Bonta and Alexandra Augulis had the other two goals.

U16

FC Virginia had a 2-0 weekend with wins over CASL and NC Fusion. Emma Kershner and Emily Fox had the goals in the 2-1 win over CASL on Saturday. Tess Sapone and Alexandra Littlefield contributed with the assists. Fox added two more goals on Sundy in a 4-0 win over NC Fusion. Sierra Lam and Julia Phillips scored the other goals on the day.

Solar Chelsea Soccer Club picked up a 2-1 win over TSC Hurricane on Sunday thanks to goals from YayeDior Mbengue and Jordan Lake. Alexis Thornton and Katina Tsapos had the assists for the Dallas club.

Mustang SC improved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 win over Pleasanton Rage on Saturday. Sherilyn Lee scored the lone goal in the Northwest Conference showdown. Ashley Arnett had the assist.

U17

MVLA picked up a 2-0 win over De Anza Force thanks to goals from Rebecca Andrews and Emma Wangsness. Erica Higa and Paulina Llamas Bringas had the assists.

Minnesota Thunder had a four-point weekend with a draw against Michigan Hawks and a win over Vardar. Thunder sits in second place in the Great Lakes Division at this early stage of the season.

U18

Michigan Hawks picked up a pair of wins over FC Wisconsin Eclipse over the weekend. Hawks beat Wisconsin Eclipse 2-0 on Saturday and then topped them 4-0 on Sunday. North Carolina(m) commit Megan Buckingham leads the team in scoring with seven goals in seven games.
