Gators claim top spot at U13

PSG Michigan Gators 02 Orange continued their run in the US Youth Soccer ranks, beating So Cal Blues Baker in the finals of the USYS National Championship to end the season No. 1. No small feat for the Gators, as the Blues didn’t give up a goal in group play thanks to standout goalkeeper Ryan Campbell. The Gators were able to secure a 0-0 draw in group play and then a 2-1 defeat of the Blues in the final.

NEFC Elite finished 2015 where it started in January, ranked No. 3 in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25. The team from Boston topped No. 14 JFC Storm 01/02 in the NPL Final to take US Club Soccer’s highest title.

Legends enter rankings at U14

With the ECNL season finale reflected in our last update, there are just a few tweaks to the rankings in this age group for the month of July.

Legends FC, like Michigan Gators in the U13s, peaked entering the end of the season to take the US Youth Soccer National Championship title and enter our rankings. With a performance in the USYS National League that left them near the bottom of the table in the Red Division, Legends climbed up through the ranks in the spring, first with a Cal South National Cup title, then a USYS Region IV championship over Hawaii Rush, and finishing with a 2-1 defeat of No. 18 Dallas Kicks on their way to No. 22 in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25.

Blues finish on top at U15

Another ECNL season is in the books, and So Cal Blues took care of its final opponent for the year to remain No. 1. Michigan Hawks climbs two spots from No. 4 to No. 2 after beating former No. 2 Solar Chelsea in ECNL Finals group play, but the Blues were too much for the Hawks on the final day, keeping the Hawks from the top spot.

Next Week: Final 2014-15 season update for all age groups

Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
