Today we unveil our latest update to the Grande Sports TeamRank, the comprehensive ranking system for elite club soccer teams nationwide, and we release the latest standings for U16, U17 and U18 Girls. Next week, we will update the younger age groups on the Boys side. We will update our National Top 25 of each age group at least once per month.

Some of the teams in the U16 and U17 age groups are gearing up for the Texas Showcase taking place this weekend, while the U18s remain idle except for scattered matches around the country.

Real Colorado nears the top at U16

Real Colorado was victorious against two California Division opponents in January, earning shutouts against San Juan SC and Santa Rosa United to extend its one loss season and climb to No. 2. Leading scorer and U17 Women’s National Team member Sophia Smith netted the game winner against San Juan and added two more against Santa Rosa United to increase her total to 14.

Storm rises at U17

Colorado Storm continued its unbeaten streak in matches against Santa Rosa United and San Juan SC to lead the Colorado Division and climbs to No. 7. Storm will face No. 12 FC Dallas at the Texas Showcase this weekend in a matchup of two top 25-ranked teams.

Status quo at U18

The top age group is taking a break from rankings this month. Most of its members spent last week signing their National Letters of Intent, and TopDrawerSoccer.com had a busy day covering the events. The light schedule in ECNL play didn’t result in any changes to the top 25, as only Crossfire, Santa Rosa United, Real Colorado, and Washington Premier saw action since our last update.

Next Thursday: U13, U14, and U15 Boys

Grande Sports TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
