The Grande Sports TeamRank Top 25, the comprehensive ranking system for elite club soccer teams nationwide, concludes April updates this week with the U13, U14, and U15 girls club soccer teams. We will update our National Top 25 for each age group at least once per month.

Staying the Course

FC Dallas won the Texas Lightning Showcase in the U14 age group earlier this month. FC Dallas went through the tournament without conceding a goal. The Texas team has been on a roll this year and looks like the team to beat in the U13 age group. FC Dallas is the No. 1 team in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 April update.

Cincinnati United Premier won the Cincinnati United Elite Invitational comfortably with only two goals conceded over the four games. The Ohio club went undefeated at Jefferson Cup last month, but failed to record a win from any of the three games at that tournament.

GSA Premier (GOL 04 Premier) moves up to No. 20 in this month’s ranking. GSA won the 2017 Jefferson Cup with four strong performances from the tournament in Virginia.

Jumping up the Rankings

Solar Chelsea SC is still undefeated on the season in ECNL play, but the Texas club did not have a game in April yet. Solar should be back in the mix in the coming weeks to see if the long break had any affect on the group that hopes to win an ECNL National Championship this spring. Solar is the No. 1 U14 girls club soccer team in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 for April.

Beside Solar, the top three is completely changed from last month with San Diego Surf, PDA, and Eclipse Select SC all dropping points in April. Surf and PDA played in the ECNL National Event in Phoenix and were faced with some big challenges in the desert.

So Cal Blues is the big mover this month. After losing three of their first seven games of the season, the Blues are on a hot streak now with five wins in a row. Blues looked like the best team in Phoenix, but the girls club soccer powerhouse will need a strong finish to the season to even get into the playoff picture.

Breaking the Century Mark

So Cal Blues continued their dominant run through ECNL competition this past month with a stunning display in Arizona for the ECNL National Event in Phoenix. So Cal Blues improved to 18-0 on the season with 110 goals for and only 10 goals conceded. The closest game of the season for Blues was a 2-0 win over Eagles. The squad looks to be on a different level than the rest of the age group in the ECNL, and it’d be a massive surprise if this team did not take home the National Championship this summer. So Cal Blues is the No. 1 U15 girls club soccer team in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 for April.

OP-ECNL and Cincinnati United Premier both move up in the rankings this month. The two Ohio clubs benefit from some other teams fading in the spring as all teams turn their attention toward end of the season tournaments and events.

Jacksonville Armada jumps up the rankings as well. The Florida club went 2-1 in Phoenix with quality wins over PDA and Real Colorado. Armada could be a team to watch in the ECNL Playoffs in June.

Grande Sports TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
