MVLA Barcelona No. 1 at U13 (2004)

Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club 2004 Pre ECNL Barcelona started the season exceptionally strong, taking home pre-season trophies in northern and southern California. MVLA edged past No. 2 San Diego Surf EGSL Academy to win the Surf title, and a 2-1 result against No. 8 Force 04G Pre-ECNL handed them the Stampede crown.

Tophat Platinum Pre-ECNL and GSA Pre-ECNL are two Georgia teams starting well. Tophat travelled to metro Boston, beating No. 10 World Class Pre ECNL 04 in the final of the FC Stars Cup, and has followed up with two wins in Georgia Youth Soccer league play. GSA stayed home for the pre-season, winning the Atlanta Cup over Labor Day. GSA is also 2-0 in league play, landing at No. 14 in our rankings.

Solar Chelsea ECNL No. 1 at U14

A good number of players from last year’s US Youth Soccer national championship team at U13 have rolled into this Solar Chelsea ECNL squad, and the 5-0 record to start the season reflects that. Goalkeeper Cali Sanchez, who was not a part of the national championship team, has allowed just two goals so far in league action.

No. 5 PDA is off to a 4-0 start in ECNL play, with wins over No. 9 Albertson SC, East Meadow, FC Bucks and No. 25 Penn Fusion already on its resume.

Blues still No. 1 at U15

So Cal Blues ECNL still seems unstoppable at this age group. Last season’s undefeated ECNL national champion began the 2016-17 season with a Surf Cup title and a Blues Cup crown, and has followed up with three league wins in ECNL play to remain No. 1 in the Grande Sports TeamRank Top 25.

Jacksonville FC finished last season ranked No. 22, but climbs 11 spots to No. 11 on the heels of a 5-0-1 record to start the year, including a win over conference rival No. 15 Concorde Fire and a draw with No. 13 Tophat SC.

Next Thursday: U13, U14, and U15 Girls

Grande Sports TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
