JOSL and NJYS present Celebration of Soccer

April 4, 2016

The Just One Soccer League and NJ Youth Soccer (NJYS) partnered to present the “Celebration of Soccer” on Saturday, April 2 at the Waterfront Complex in Newark. More than 500 recreation players from the local community enjoyed some pick-up soccer with NJ Youth Soccer coaches, all of whom focused less on structure and more on emphasizing enjoyment of the game. After their field session, players and their families took advantage of the giveaways, entertainment, as well as health and wellness provided by the various event donors.

NJYS Recreation Commissioner Nelson Ramirez said, “We come here to celebrate every child’s smile. NJ Youth Soccer is committed to developing young children through the game of soccer. Using the game as a means to learn life lessons, such as teamwork, strategy, decision making and leadership.” Just One Soccer League Executive Director, Oscar Rodriguez, added “Every time we see children trying to catch the wind by opening their arms, it is the hope that makes us move ahead, creating more opportunities within our reach, hoping for a better future for them.” JOSL strives to provide youth a safe and supportive community to develop their sense of self, quality relationships, and confidence to succeed.

Participants received health, wellness and injury prevention information from Horizon, JAG Physical Therapy and Healthy Kids Out of School professionals who attended the event. These donors, along with NJ Youth Soccer, Topps Trading Cards and Sky Blue FC also provided prizes and giveaway for the kids to enjoy. Red Bulls stars Gideon Baah, Conor Lade and Sean Davis stopped by to sign autographs and take photos with the kid while the Red Bulls Street Team rounded out the entertainment with an exciting display of skills that dazzled the kids.
