The European offseason hardly exists for youth players. The brief break from the grind of the season is punctuated by the uncertainty of being offered a spot on the roster for the next season.

A few U.S. youth national team-eligible players have recently gone through the process of renewing with their clubs for another season including a young talent at one of the top clubs in Spain.

Royal in White

Joshua Pynadath’s father told TopDrawerSoccer that his son has accepted an invite to return to Real Madrid’s academy for the 2014-15 season. Pynadath became the first American to join the La Liga giant’s academy last year.

The skillful youngster is still a few years away from a look with the U.S. youth national team, but his growth at one of the world’s top clubs is definitely on the radar for the future.

Pynadath is originally from Northern California and played for the De Anza Force before heading to Spain.

Singing the Blues

U.S. Youth National Team midfielder Kyle Scott said on Twitter last week that he signed a scholarship to stay with Chelsea. Scott is not eligible to sign a professional contract until he turns 17, which will happen on Dec. 22, so the scholarship keeps him under contract with Chelsea.

Scott has appeared with the U.S. U18 Men’s National Team in the past. He’s a box-to-box midfielder with good vision and skill.

British media reported that Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona all expressed in acquiring the teenager in 2013. However, his recent renewal with Chelsea will keep in the London for the immediate future.

Scott played with the Chelsea U18 squad last season and should be a key contributor to the group this year. The midfielder also made a brief appearance in the UEFA Youth League last season.

Along with his opportunities with the U.S., Scott is also eligible for the English national team. He played for England’s U16 squad in 2013.

Xolos Debut

U.S. U20 Men’s National Team left back John Requejo made his unofficial debut with Club Tijuana over the weekend. The Carpinteria, California native played the second half in Club Tijuana’s 1-0 preseason win over Leones Negros.

Requejo was one of four U.S. U20 MNT members to feature in the game. Paul Arriola, Amando Moreno, and Alejandro Guido were the others. Fellow Xolos player and U20 MNT member Stevie Rodriguez won the preseason tournament playing for Dorados.
