On June 20, the TDS Combine Series stopped on the East Coast for the second time this year. Progin Park played host to some of the top players from the nation and northeast.

Here are the girls best XI and other standouts from the event.

 

GK, Meg Adams, Boston Breakers Academy, 2017 – Adams has great explosiveness and athleticism to cover the goal well. She was quick off her line and aggressive in 1v1 situations. She showed maturity beyond her years with good communication and organizing her back line.

DF, Rachel O’Keefe, New England FC, 2018 – O’Keefe has a big, strong presence at the back. She stepped well to win the ball without having to get too physical during full field games. O’Keefe is the type of defender who will always find a way to win the ball – great competitive nature. She was also clean and simple when passing out of the back.

DF, Sonia Sousa, Prospect Soccer, 2016 – Sousa makes it into the Best XI for her second time, following a fantastic attacking performance breaking out from the back. Composed on the dribble, every pass had a purpose. The most impressive part of her performance on the day was her decision making on when to go forward and when to stay back.

DF, Kellie Errasti, Boston Breakers Academy, 2018 – Strong in the air and very vocal out of the back Errasti is your typical defender. She went hard into tackles, taking no prisoners, and connect well out of pressure.

MF, Diana Bruggeman, FC Stars of Massachuests, 2017 – Another second timer to our Best XI, Bruggeman again showed her impact as a very technical possession based box to box midfielder. Constantly involved, playing out of pressure and joining in on the attack to get shots off.

MF, Margaret Cote, SF Vikings, 2018 – Cote is a very simple midfielder who likes to sit and keep the play ticking. She made good decisions on the ball and showed great strength when under pressure in possession.

MF, Taylor Brown, Boston Breakers Academy, 2018 – Brown is comfortable and composed with the ball at her feet. Great in tight spaces, she likes to float further up the field and get involved more on the attacking end. She showed fantastic vision, creating chances throughout the full field games.

MF, Alyana Sosa, Prospect Soccer, 2018 – Sosa has a great burst of pace over her first few yards and used it effectively throughout the day to break into space and relief pressure in the defensive third and create chances in the final third. Much like the other midfielders in the Best XI, Sosa is also comfortable and composed in possession.

FW, Stephanie Figueiredo, New England Rush, 2017 – A fast forward, Figueiredo found herself behind the back line on numerous occasions. She also has the ability to drop deep and played some great short through balls under pressure. Her biggest asset is her ability to take players on 1v1 and use her speed.

FW, Jordyn Abasciano, FC Napoli, 2017 – Abasciano is everything you want in a striker, selfish and scrappy in front of goal, she has the ability to always create a goal scoring opportunity. Direct and fast on the dribble, she created a lot of chances for herself during games and was constantly involved.

FW, Grace Oliver, Boston Breakers, 2018 – Oliver seemed to be always involved with every attack for her team, scoring a number of cracking goals. Crafty, creative and good under pressure – she passed and moved through the final third.
