The following are the boys who stood out most at the Tri-State combine.

TDS Tri-State Combine Boys Best XI

Noah Lawrence – New York Red Bulls – Goalkeeper (2016) – Lawrence has a presence to him in the goal that is intimidating for attackers. Makes himself big when closing down angles, and really commands his area. Great strength, and footwork is top notch.

Nicholas Cousillas – NJCSA – Defender (2015) - A ball playing center back who has enormous potential because of his comfort on the ball as well as the leadership he brings to a backline.

Michael DeShields – Baltimore Celtic – Defender (2016) – Incredibly calm on the ball under pressure, DeShields was the best center back at the combine. Plays as a coach on the field, organized his team throughout the day. Understands the game at a high level and is very humble and coachable. Has quick reactions and provided high energy throughout the day. Ranked #18 in the Mid-Atlantic Region, DeShields formed an incredible center back partnership with Nicholas Cousillas on the day.

Alec Mapoy – Match Fit Academy – Defender (2016)- Mapoy has incredibly quick feet and is confident joining the attack as a defender. Showed great fitness and agility on the day.

Cale Thorne – Baltimore Celtic – Defender (2016) – With strong defensive instincts, Thorne covers a lot of ground and constantly impacts the game. Technical and comfortable on the ball, will be a very good D1 player according to scouts.

Eric Calvillo – Prince William SI – Midfielder (2018) – Despite being one of the youngest players at the combine, Calvillo showed a lot of confidence and creativity on the ball. First touch is excellent, and the flair he showed throughout the day was encouraging to watch from such a young player.

Colin Furlong – Everton FC Westchester – Midfielder (2015) – Has a good range of passes and his technical ability allows him to play the game quicker than many. Accuracy and finishing were strong on the day, and he makes great penetrating runs forward into the box. Has really good feet and enjoys playing in tight spaces.

Chase Covello – Match Fit Academy – Midfielder (2015) – Covello has a great engine that lets him get up and down the field with ease. Will probably develop into a winger or attacking outside back at the next level. Very good technically and reads the game well.

Shane Kastl – PDA – Forward (2016)- Kastl is comfortable dribbling at defenders and taking them on, and has very good footwork. Can play as a No. 10 or as an outright striker, and creates well for teammates.

Zachary Seigelstein – BW Gottschee – Forward (2018) – A young forward who is a quality passer of the ball in the final third. Has good feet and frequently found space in midfield to play between the lines. Good finisher in front of goal, and has the qualities one would look for in a young developing striker.

Justin Spencer – Thunder SC – Forward (2015) - Spencer is a natural goal scorer. Combines his vision and ability on the ball with a very strong work rate. Attacks with confidence and should be an excellent college player.
