The 2018 Boys IMG Academy Top 150 class is shaping up to be one of the best we’ve seen in some time. And it got a major shakeup last week.

Andrew Carleton, of course, signed a Homegrown deal with Atlanta United months and months before the club even plays its first competitive match in 2017. In fact, the club won’t even have a standalone academy until the 2016-17 season, so Carleton will have plenty more academy soccer in his future regardless of whether he’ll be tipped for starting minutes any time soon.

But that offers us a unique entrypoint into a 2018 class that still has plenty of time to take shape. Our regular updates to our rankings recently hit the 2018 boys group, and there are plenty of fascinating talking points to go around. With a group this talented, that's bound to be the case.

Without further ado, let’s dive in and break down some of the most promising young American players and their movements in our freshly updated 2018 pool rankings.
