Twin pair makes joint college commitment

Twin pair makes joint college commitment
September 1, 2011
Brooke and Casie Ramsier recently made a twin verbal commitment to Auburn. And, really, was there any other way?

The identical twin sisters, joined at the hip and on the field, are a package deal in every sense. So it’s only right that their college soccer careers will unfold like every other important chapter of their lives – together.

“I can’t even picture my college life without my sister by my side,” Casie said.

Both Solar SC attackers, Casie the more technical forward and Brooke as the physically stronger midfielder, the duo has such an uncanny connection on the field that their coach often insists they compete on separate sides during trainings.

Apparently shared genes are an unfair advantage.

Taking their partnership to the college level had a few challenges, though. For starters, they were banking on a program recruiting them together as opposed to individually.

Then there was the possibility of them each falling for separate programs. For all of their shared physical features and twin telepathy they do have some personal preferences, believe it or not.

“That was something we worried about throughout the whole process,” said Brooke, of the sisters disagreeing on college choices.

“It almost did happen,” added Casie. “But the difference in opinion wasn’t so significant that it swayed us.”

In other words, the Ramsiers were sticking to the game plan. They took all of their campus visits together; met potential teammates as a pair and told coaches that they planned on committing as a unit.

“It was a harder decision than we thought it would be,” Brooke said. “Everybody in our family had an opinion – even our coach and our trainers.”

But only two opinions mattered, and those led them to Auburn.

“We felt comfortable with the team and knew they were the kind of girls we could play and get along with,” Casie said. “The school traditions, the SEC…it all worked out great.”

Casie and Brooke now join the family of Solar SC standouts who have committed to programs, including:

Claire Wheatley (Illinois), Taylor Smith (Florida State), Heather Magee (LSU), Macee Blanchard (Missouri), Loudell Crumpler (Missouri), Annie Wheeler (New Mexico) and Jazmyne Simmons (Penn).

“Playing for our (new) school will be an awesome experience,” Brooke said. “Making significant contributions at a competitive D1 school has always been our college dream. We’re stoked.”
