It happens every year.

You think you’ve hit the lottery with your first round draft pick. You’ve scouted, done your homework, dug in on his intangibles. But he flops, all while the unheralded second rounder manages to put in a near-Rookie of the Year campaign out of the blue.

Sleepers. They lie in wait in every draft.

The MLS SuperDraft is more top-heavy than any professional draft in American sports. Beyond the first round, it is exceedingly difficult to find a future cornerstone player. In fact, all the second rounders from last year’s draft combined only played around 2,000 total minutes in 2015. But Oniel Fishers exist. It’s merely up to the clubs to find them.

Here’s a glimpse at eight players who could turn the draft on its head and streak out of nowhere to become a solid paving stone on the path to an MLS Cup for one lucky club.
