BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Junior Murphee Greeley and freshman Paige Elliott from the Lehigh women’s soccer team have earned Patriot League weekly awards, as announced on Monday. Greeley earned Offensive Player of the Week while Elliott garnered Defensive laurels. It marks the second straight week the Mountain Hawks garnered two weekly awards after sophomore Darby Dustman and freshman Ani Nahapetian captured Offensive and Goalie of the Week one week ago.

Greeley earned Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career and first since September of last year. The Devon, Pa. native tied a career high with two goals in Saturday’s big 4-0 win over Holy Cross to clinch Lehigh’s second Patriot League Tournament berth in the last three years. Greeley finished a sensational individual effort in the 24th minute, dribbling from midfield and firing a lefty shot into the upper-right corner of the net for the all-important first goal. She then added the team’s fourth goal in the 64th minute to round out the scoring.

Saturday marked the second time this season that Greeley’s scored two goals, along with a two-goal effort vs. La Salle on Sept. 23. She now leads the team with five goals and 12 points on the season.

Meanwhile, one week after earning national recognition from College Soccer 360, Elliott earned her first-ever Patriot League weekly award. The freshman continued her strong play as one of Lehigh’s anchors on defense. She’s helped spearhead a defense that hasn’t allowed a goal over the last 285:01 dating back to the 30-second mark against Bucknell. The Mountain Hawks allowed only eight Holy Cross shots with only four on goal. It tied for the second fewest shots Lehigh has allowed all season.

Elliott has made her mark offensively too, continuing to impress in transition while creating a number of scoring chances from defense to offense. She owns two goals and two assists on the season, tied for fourth on the Mountain Hawks with six total points.

Fourth-seeded Lehigh will play at top seed Navy in the Patriot League Semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to face the winner of #2 Colgate against #3 American in Sunday’s championship game. The Mountain Hawks are eying their second Patriot League Championship in the last three years after capturing the 2010 title, their first in school history.
