Lincoln - Knotted up at 1-1 with just under ten minutes to play in regulation, an own goal deflection off an Iowa defender after a header assist from Nebraska freshman Sydney Miramontez gave the No. 23 Huskers an electrifying 2-1 victory, running its win streak to seven games. The victory lifts NU's conference record to 4-0-0 on the year, equaling last year's Big Ten win total and its best start in league play since 2006 as a member of the Big 12.

"It was a great team win that shows we can overcome adversity once again," said sophomore Katie Kraeutner. "We know we have that competitive edge and we believe in ourselves and our abilities."

The Huskers, who are ranked No. 23 in the NSCAA coaches poll for the first time since 2005, took a 1-0 edge at the 26:42 mark of the match when senior Stacy Bartels found Kraeutner with a ground cross from the right side as Kraeutner swept the ball inside the far post for her fourth tally of the year, all coming in the last six matches.

The match remained 1-0 favor NU as both teams entered the intermission. Iowa outshot Nebraska in the first half by a 7-5 margin, while NU put three shots on goal compared to just one for the Hawkeyes. Iowa maintained pressure on the Scarlet and Cream by amassing six corner kicks while NU tallied one. 

Iowa (9-3-0, 1-3-0 Big Ten) notched the equalizer at the 58:47 mark when Cloe Lacasse found Katie Nasenbenny for her second score of the year. Lacasse sent a ground cross from the left side to the near post where Nasenbenny slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner past the NU keeper to tie it up at 1-1.

With 20 minutes to play in regulation, the action and the physicality of play picked up as three yellows cards were issued in a span of five minutes. 

With the players and fans on the edge of their seats, Samantha Areman provided a swift cross at the 80:59 mark that glanced off Miramontez's head, but then deflected off of Iowa's Caitlin Brown for the own goal that gave NU the 2-1 victory with 80:59 on the clock.

In the waning moments of regulation, Nebraska senior goalkeeper Emma Stevens made a pair of game-winning stops to keep the Hawkeyes at bay and senior defender Ari Romero made a sensational sliding stop to secure the victory for the Huskers.

Iowa outperformed Nebraska in shots by a 19-16 advantage, with both teams putting up five attempts on net. The Huskers are unbeaten at home this year in five matches. Mayme Conroy and Miramontez led NU with four shots each in the win.

The Huskers welcome No. 21 Michigan for a Top 25 matchup this Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.
