<p>The Northeastern women's soccer team fell in its season opener on Sunday Night at Parsons Field, dropping a hotly contested match to the No. 23 Boston University Terriers, 3-0.<br /> <br /> The loss drops NU to 0-1 on the young season, while the Terriers move to 2-0. Sophomore <dfn><a href="http://gonu.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2030" rel="smarttag" rev="2030">Paige Burnett</a></dfn> took the loss in net for the Huskies, recording six saves. BU held a 20-12 advantage in shots, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal. All three of the Terriers goals came in the second half.<br /> <br /> Northeastern's first chance came off a <dfn><a href="http://gonu.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2036" rel="smarttag" rev="2036">Hannah O'Donnell</a></dfn> corner in the third minute, but senior captain <dfn><a href="http://gonu.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2039" rel="smarttag" rev="2039">Greta Samuelsdottir</a></dfn>'s shot in the box was blocked and skipped wide.<br /> <br /> After an NU yellow card on senior <dfn><a href="http://gonu.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2034" rel="smarttag" rev="2034">Sandra Magnusdottir</a></dfn>, a free kick by BU's Megan McGoldrick was saved by Burnett to keep the contest scoreless in the seventh minute. The Huskies had a golden opportunity in the 17th minute, as redshirt-sophomore <dfn><a href="http://gonu.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2050" rel="smarttag" rev="2050">Devin Griffin</a></dfn> saved a ball deep in the box and served it to a streaking Samuelsdottir, but her one timer shot was blocked by a BU defender.<br /> <br /> Sophomore <dfn><a href="http://gonu.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2033" rel="smarttag" rev="2033">Maria Lanyi</a></dfn> ripped a shot from the edge of the box in the 32nd minute, but it glanced just wide of Andrea Green's diving outstretched arms and wide of the net. Green was again up to the task two minutes later on sophomore <dfn><a href="http://gonu.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2049" rel="smarttag" rev="2049">Lahaina Zoller</a></dfn>'s straight-on blast.<br /> <br /> The teams played a tight contest for the rest of the half, and the game went to the break tied up 0-0.<br /> <br /> The first chance of the second frame came off the foot of Magnusdottir, but he winding blast from 20 yards out was corralled by Green. Magnusdottir had another chance in the 57th minute, but Green sprawled to make a huge save&nbsp; with Zoller racing in for an open rebound look and the contest remained tied.<br /> <br /> The Terriers were able to break the tie in the 58th minute, as Jenna Fisher took a corner serve in from Ana Cuffia and sneak a shot past Burnett. It took just minutes for the Terriers to strike again, with Madison Clemens taking a feed from Taylor Krebs in the 63rd minute and blasting it past Burnett.<br /> <br /> Burnett got back on track in the 68th minute, saving McGoldrick's chance from five yards out. Burnett followed that up with a huge save on Jamie Turchi in the 71st minute and another on Erin Mullen in the 74th minute.<br /> <br /> BU extended its lead in the 75th minute with Turchi beating Burnett deep in the box, with an assist from Brea Hewitt.
