Iona Women's Soccer Drops Season-Finale
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Iona College women’s soccer team dropped its season-finale to the MAAC’s top-ranked Monmouth Hawks on Wednesday afternoon, 6-0.
The Hawks four first half goals came from, freshman Madie Gibson, sophomore Alli DeLuca, junior Rachelle Ross, and senior Rachael Ivanicki. Gibson, DeLucka, and Ross each had an assist, along with seniors Julie Spracklin and Alexis McTamney.
Monmouth tacked on its fifth goal in the 52nd minute. Freshman Anna Lazur assisted sophomore Jazlyn Moya’s score. Sophomore LeAnne Davis added on the final Hawks goal in the 81st minute with an assist from freshman Lexie Palladino.
Iona had eight total shots, four over which were on goal. Junior Christine Rebus, sophomores Kiri Dale and Mariana Jaramillo, and senior Emily Hansen each tested Hawks goaltender, freshman Amanda Knaub.
Iona was outshot 29-8 in the contest. Junior Tiffany Martinez made eight saves in the loss.
Iona concludes the season at 2-14-2, 2-7-1 MAAC. The Gaels had one win on the road, and one at home at Mazzella Field.
Freshman Amber Crispin finished the year leading the Gaels with four goals on a team-high 25 shots. Jaramillo had a team-high 12 shots on goal, resulting in two goals.
