BOCA RATON, Fla. – Earlier this week UNM head coach Jeremy Fishbein predicted Kevin Correa would score a goal for the third consecutive game when the Lobos faced off against Florida Atlantic Wednesday evening. It turned out to be prophetic as Correa scored the game-winner in the 44^th minute of UNM’s 2-0 victory over the Owls.

"This was a really good performance," Fishbein said. "These games aren't easy. But we were good on the ball, and we were really mature. ... It was a really good performance."

The Lobos (8-2-1, 2-1-0) dominated pace and possession in the first half, generating six corners and six shots, including two on net, to just one corner and one shot for FAU (1-6-2, 1-1-1). The Owls showed almost no interest in attacking up the field, generally content to sit all 11 men behind the ball and wait for their opportunity to counter.

The strategy failed, though, at the end of the half when Correa’s shot eluded the keeper and crept into the net from 20 yards out.

"He kind of hit a knuckler to the near post," Fishbein said. "The keeper got a hand on it but it still went in. He hit it with a lot of movement on it."

James Rogers added to the lead by converting a penalty in the 64th minute. It was his 21st career goal, moving him into sole possession of ninth place on UNM's all-time list. It also propelled him into the top 10 for points at UNM with 59.

It was UNM's third straight win as they moved into second place in Conference USA. The Lobos outshot the Owls 13-5 and put eight shots on goal compared to just one for FAU.
