Loyola (MD) men fall to Saint Peter's

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter’s scored a goal in each half, and the Peacocks defeated visiting Loyola (MD), 2-0, Friday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action.
The Greyhounds had the better opportunities in the game, but Saint Peter’s converted on two chances, one from long distance and one on a closer volley.
Udi Naim was a part of both goals for Saint Peter’s (5-11 overall, 3-5 MAAC), scoring the second and assisting on the first.
In the first half, Naim dropped a pass to Stephen Carty who ripped a shot from over 30 yards out that caught the wind and curled in for a goal in the 32nd minute.
The Peacocks held the 1-0 lead until the 65th minute when Michael Atehortua fed Naim who scored with a volley that deflected in off the inside of the post.
Freshman goalkeeper Zach Kane made his first start in goal for the Greyhounds (8-7-3, 5-1-2) and made six saves. Tyler Clarhaut made three saves for Saint Peter’s.
The Greyhounds, who have qualified for their 21st-straight MAAC Championships, wrap up the regular-season on Sunday, November 8, with a 10 a.m. match at Manhattan in Riverdale, N.Y.
