CLEVELAND, Ohio – After two periods of regulation, the Ramblers fell to the Vikings, 4-0, tonight in Cleveland, Ohio. Loyola battled hard through the match but was unable to shut down junior Aaron Adkins, who strung together a hat trick to pace Cleveland State for the win. With the loss, the Ramblers fall to 2-81 overall and 0-3 in Horizon League play.

Adkins scored his first early in the eighth minute after taking it from 10 and beating the keeper. With an assist from Admir Suljevic, Aslinn Rodas put the Vikings up 2-0 with a shot off the left post at the 32:06 mark.

Adkins showed up again in the second half to notch the final two goals of the game. At 53:13, he scored on a sliding shot off of a cross from Jordan Hart. Less than two minutes later, Adkins again found the net when another cross, this time by Zach Ellis-Hayden, was sent inside the box for the one-touch attempt.

Tanner Nebbia led the Ramblers with two shots in the match. Erik Warren and Kyle Spoo each added one shot on goal while the rest of Loyola’s attempts were spread evenly to Justin Koehler, Alec King, and Andrew Raymonds. As a whole, the Ramblers collected seven shots on the night while the Vikings pulled together 15 for the advantage. Cleveland State also held the slim 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Peter McKeown took the start between the posts and finished with two saves in goal while the rest of the Rambler backline worked to force the Vikings offsides three times.

Next up, Loyola will host Eastern Illinois at Loyola Soccer Park for a non-conference contest on Oct. 12. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
