Staten Island, NY – Women's soccer senior captain Sydney McNutt (Hatboro, PA / Hatboro-Horsham) was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

McNutt becomes the first Seahawk to garner the league's top weekly offensive award since 2014, when fellow captain Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL/Mariner) earned Co-Player of the Week on November 3.

McNutt scored two goals in the Seahawks' first win of the season, a 5-0 triumph over Saint Peter's last Thursday. The senior midfielder's first goal of the match came off an impressive direct free kick 25 yards out that found the top left corner of the net.

The Cape Coral, FL native capped her spectacular evening with a header in the 66th minute off a well-timed cross from sophomore Kim Fetto (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan).

Through four games of the 2016 campaign, McNutt has doubled her goal total from a season ago while anchoring the defensive midfield position for the Seahawks, who will next be in action on Friday, September 2 at home against Delaware State.  The senior captain notched her lone goal of the 2015 campaign back on September 4 against Stony Brook.
