ANN ARBOR (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team dropped the tail end of its season-opening road trip to Michigan, 3-0, at the U-M Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolverines (1-1), who are receiving votes in the 2014 NSCAA preseason poll, were led by Colin McAtee with goals in the 21st and 76th minutes. The scoring opened with a sixth-minute strike from Marcos Ugarte.

"We weren't as sharp as we were on Friday night and got off to a slow start and it cost us dearly," McClements said.

Freshman Colten Habecker led the Mustangs (0-2) offensively with four shots in 47 minutes of action, three of which were on frame and came in the last 10 minutes of action in the first half. Junior John Lujano also added a pair, while junior Idrissa Camara, senior Andrew Morales and freshman Abdul Yassine had one each.

"Coming in as a young player he [Habcker] made an impact and created some dangerous scoring opportunities for us, but it's difficult after digging yourself in a hole early," McClements said. "We fought all the way through."

Freshman Michael Nelson collected three saves in the net for SMU.

"We are a youthful team with a lot to work to do," McClements added. "We'll look at the tapes from this weekend and examine both the games and go from there. We're still positive amongst the group and we'll get back at it Tuesday."

The Mustangs are back in action on Friday when they host Duke in their home opener at 7 p.m. CT. Live stats and video will be available at SMUMustangs.com.
