Northeastern Women's Soccer vs. Drexel

October 11, 2013

BOSTON – The Northeastern women’s soccer team won its fourth consecutive game when it topped Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) opponent Drexel, 1-0, Friday night.

Lahaina Zoller scored her first goal of the season for the Huskies and Paige Burnett tallied seven saves for her third shutout of the year.

The NU (4-6-3, 4-0-0 CAA) defense, backed by Burnett, has shutout the opposition in three of its last four games. The Huskies have allowed only one goal (vs. UNCW) during that stretch.

Drexel (4-9-1, 0-4-0), which entered Friday night’s match having scored only one goal in its previous seven games, put a lot of offensive pressure on the Huskies in the first half.

The Dragons outshot the Huskies, 7-3, in the opening period. However, the shots-on-goal battle was closer, with the Dragons holding a 3-2 edge.

NU goalkeeper Paige Burnett made a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes of the first period to ensure a scoreless tie entering the break.

The Huskies have held opponents scoreless in the first half in five of their last six games.

Hanna Terry tallied her fifth assist of the season when she connected with Zoller in the 51st minute to give NU the 1-0 lead.

Burnett made two saves in the final three minutes of regulation to seal the win.

NU and Drexel finished tied in shots (12) and shots on goal (7). Morgan Hilby led the Huskies with four shots, all of which were on goal.

The Huskies continue their weekend-long road trip when they play at Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 13, for a 1:30 p.m. kick off with the Blue Hens.
