Oregon women announce 2011 recruits

February 4, 2011
EUGENE, Ore. -- Head coach Tara Erickson announced the addition of 10 student-athletes to the University of Oregon soccer program as part of the 2011 National Signing Day. The Ducks’ talented class features the signing of seven National Letters of Intent and the addition of three recruited walk-ons.

“I am incredibly excited and proud to call these 10 student-athletes Oregon Ducks,” Erickson said about the roster additions. “As a class they bring talent and passion on the soccer field. I think that we can easily say that this is by far the best recruiting class in the history of Oregon Soccer.”

The 10 newcomers come from four different states, four players from Oregon, three from California, two from Colorado and one from Georgia. The deep recruiting class includes four student-athletes capable of playing either forward or midfielder, five that can play defender or midfielder, and a cornerstone goalkeeper.

“With it being such a large class, it has allowed us to add depth at every single position on the field,” Erickson said. “Many of these players come from club, high school and ODP backgrounds that have placed them in continuous competitive environments and each of them has consistently shown their winning ways.”

A common thread with each member of the 10-person class is an excellence in the classroom.

“These student-athletes also shine with their academics and I believe that each of them will help us continue to maintain the high academic standards that we keep in the classroom,” Erickson added.
