FLORENCE, SC – Susannah Anderson and Taylor Glenn each scored a pair of goals to lead Elon University to a 6-0 non-conference win over Francis Marion University, Tuesday evening (Oct. 6) in women’s soccer action.

The Patriots (2-12-0) will play at Charleston Southern University on Saturday with a 4 p.m. kickoff.  The next home match for FMU will be Oct. 20 against USC Upstate at 7 p.m.

Mel Insley scored on a 37-yard free kick in the 14th minute and Kendall Ballotti headed in a corner kick from Alexis de Groot in the 35th minute as Elon took a 2-0 advantage into halftime.

FMU sophomore Haley Bigler served a ball to junior Tori Whigham at the corner of the 6-yard box in the 31st minute, but her turn-and-shoot effort was stopped by Elon goalkeeper Taylor Mohr.

Anderson and Glenn then accounted for the four second-half tallies by the Phoenix (8-2-2).

Patriot junior Kelly Anthony had a long shot that was wide of the Phoenix goal in the 70th minute.

Francis Marion senior goalkeeper Taylor O’Berry registered six saves to push her school-record career total to 386 – second-best among active NCAA Division I keepers.  Sophomore Casey Murakami played the final 25 minutes in goal for FMU and recorded three stops.
