The third week of the Division I season had some teams enter conference play while other programs were still enjoying the pre-conference tournaments. The disjointed schedule left some players with extra opportunities to impress with more games on the schedule for this weekend.

Butler senior forward David Goldsmith was one of the players who took full advantage of the chance to shine in a tournament. Goldsmith recorded four goals in two games and kept Butler rolling through the third week of the season.

TDS Player of the Week: David Goldsmith, Butler

GK James Pyle, North Carolina – Pyle made an incredible save on a penalty kick in the first half and finished the game with six saves as the Tar Heels recorded a 1-0 win over Clemson in the ACC opener for both teams. Pyle’s six-save effort was his best of the season along with his third shutout in four games.

D Rob Nardiello, Rider – Nardiello scored the game-winner on Sunday in Rider’s 2-0 win over Temple as the Broncs improved to 4-0 on the season. He was also a key part of the defense on Tuesday that shut out NJIT.

D Brandon Aubrey, Notre Dame – Aubrey scored three goals in Notre Dame’s 4-1 win over Virginia Tech in the ACC opener for both teams on Friday. Aubrey, the center defender, has already scored six goals this season for the Irish.

D Mark Lindstrom, UNC Wilmington – Lindstrom, a freshman defender, was named the SpringHill Suites Classic Defensive MVP after leading UNCW to a pair of shutouts against Winthrop and Dayton.
