Terriers and Bulldogs Play to Scoreless Draw

The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers (7-1-3, 0-0-1 NEC) and the Bryant Bulldogs (2-5-3,0-0-1 NEC) played to a scoreless draw, on Friday evening at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5. The game started an hour and 15 minutes late due to inclement weather.

The Bulldogs created the first chance of the match in the 14th minute. Thomas Binder fired a shot off of the cross bar, which was then cleared away by the Terrier defense.

The Terriers came back with a chance in the 23rd minute. Senior midfielder John Makaya received an outlet pass from Federico Curbelo, created space and fired a shot, which was stopped by Bryant ‘s goalkeeper Chris Knaub.

St. Francis Brooklyn came right back a minute later. Junior Collyns Loakandi’s shot, off a feed from Makya, went wide of the goal.

The Terriers almost broke the tie again in the 27th minute. Senior midfielder Cyril Coisne’s header, off of a corner kick from senior Vincent Bezecourt, was blocked and cleared by the Bulldogs defense.

Bryant created another opportunity in the 43rd minute. Jason Norat’s shot was denied by red-shirt senior goalkeeper Jack Binks.

SFBK came out and created the first chance of the second half. Bezecourt received the ball, made a move, but his shot from 20-yards out was denied by Knaub.

The Terriers almost broke the tie again in the 81st minute. Junior defender Paul Galimi’s header, off of a corner kick from Bezecourt, was denied by Knaub.

Sophomore defender Dominick Falanga created one last chance before the end of regulation, but his shot was stopped by Knaub in the 87th minute.

The Terriers, who outshot the Bulldogs 17-6, created the only two chances in the first overtime. Makaya’s shot, off of a feed from Bezecourt, was stopped by Knaub in the 95th minute. Bezecourt came back in the 100th minute with another opportunity, which was stopped by Knaub.

Both teams limited the other from creating many chances in the second extra session.

Binks made one save to record his eight shutout of the season.

SFBK continues NEC play on Sunday when they head to Central Connecticut State University to play the Blue Devils. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
