Texas standout Doniak in critical condition
Wednesday Update
Kylie remains in intensive care, but has resumed normal body temperature and is now off paralytic drugs. Draining fluid and taking medication to reduce swelling on the brain continues. This information was posted by Kylie's sister on the following web site:

University of Texas senior soccer player Kylie Doniak remains in critical condition after being struck by a drunk driver while crossing a street in Austin, Texas early Friday morning. As of Sunday evening, the medical staff at University Medical Center Brackenridge continues to try to relieve swelling in her brain.
Doniak is a former Slammers FC and Cal South ODP standout who finished her senior season at Texas last fall.
Below is the press release issued Friday by the UT Athletics Department.
Statement from UT Women's Athletics Director Chris Plonsky regarding Kylie Doniak:
"Kylie Doniak, a senior forward on our soccer team, was injured early Friday morning in a pedestrian-auto accident in downtown Austin. Kylie is in the ICU unit of University Medical Center Brackenridge. Her parents have arrived from their home in Chino Hills, California, and they are on site now. Per University policies, updates on her condition will be communicated by appropriate Athletics Department staff. We and the family appreciate the outreach and outpouring of support for Kylie. She is a beloved student-athlete, not just here but in the entire collegiate soccer community. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers on her behalf."
Doniak, still enrolled at the University of Texas, recently completed her career on the Forty Acres with a stellar four years. Doniak earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors on three consecutive occasions. She garnered All-Big 12 Second Team honors in 2010 and NSCAA All-Central Region Third Team honors in 2009. Doniak was named to the Soccer Buzz Magazine Freshman All-America Third Team and All-Freshman Central Region Team in 2008. She finished the 2011 campaign as the team’s leading scorer with 15 points on five goals and five assists despite missing four games due to a knee injury. She was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29 during a week in which she scored three goals in a pair of wins over Georgia and Cal State Northridge. Doniak ended her career ranked 10th on Texas' career list with 18 goals along with seventh in assists (18) and 11th in points (54).
