The women’s Division I season officially entered its second month of action over the weekend, which means statistical analysis is finally possible. Here’s a glimpse at the top five statistical team offenses and defenses so far this season and what’s made them tick.

Attack

1. Louisiana Tech (3.67 goals per game)

No men’s or women’s Division I side’s scored more than Louisiana Tech this season. Incredibly the Lady Techsters have 44 goals in 12 games, and they’re currently outscoring opponents 26-4 in second halves. They’ve already notched up 9-0, 8-0 and 7-0 victories this year, until last weekend they hadn’t been shut out all season, a streak of 10 games. Sterner tests await, but Taylor Dennis (eight goals), Kathryn Sloan (seven goals) and Brittany Beddow (five goals) are hard to beat right now.
