Union 2, Eastern Nazarene 0

August 30, 2014

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Talk about a debut.

Freshman midfielder Emily Dahlstrom came off the bench to score the game-winner in Union's 2-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene at the Flower City Classic.  In the process, Union won its season opener for the first time since 2011 (after suffering overtime losses the last two years).

Dahlstrom entered in the 66th minute, and scored on her first career shot seven minutes later off an assist from Mollie Gilchrist.  Union struck again at the 85:25 mark.  ENC goalkeeper Kristen Farley stopped a shot from Allie Supranowicz, but couldn't control the rebound, which landed near the foot of Whitney Bickford, who buried her 15th career goal.  Supranowicz, starting her first career game, received credit for the assist.

The "U" earned three points for the win, and will attempt to capture the Flower City Classic title tomorrow, squaring off against SUNY Fredonia at 11:00 a.m. in Fauver Stadium on the University of Rochester campus.
