Wisconsin-Green Bay men fall to Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Wisconsin-Green Bay (4-4-1, 0-2-0) men’s soccer team fell 3-1 to Cleveland State (4-5-0, 2-1-0) Friday, in the first of five games on the road for the Phoenix.
The Vikings took an early 2-0 lead mid-way through the first half. Cleveland State’s John Wargo scored the first goal at 8:47 off a corner kick from Manual Conde. Eight minutes later Aaron Adkins got a breakaway pass for the goal, boosting the Vikings’ lead 2-0.
At 35:26, JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) fired a shot that hit the post. The shot was rebounded by Anthony Santaga (Green Bay, Wis.) who scored his second goal of the season to cut the Vikings’ lead in half (2-1), at the break.
At 65:29, Cleveland State’s Justin Cree scored his first goal of the season off a header, received from a corner kick. The goal secured the 3-1 win for the Vikings.
The Phoenix outshot the Vikings 7-5 in the contest as Banks led the way with four. Junior Tony Walls (Wauwatosa, Wis.) was issued a red card in the 16th minute and will be ineligible for the Phoenix against Detroit (3-5-1, 2-1-0).
Green Bay will kick off against the Titans Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Detroit is coming off a 2-1 victory over Milwaukee on Friday.
