UC Irvine women defeat Bowling Green

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (7-1-1) defeated Bowling Green 2-0 Sunday morning at the UC Riverside Tournament at UCR Soccer Stadium.

Freshman Mar Rodriguez (Santa Ana/Valley HS) got an assist from freshman Devon Delarosa (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS) in the 27th minute to give UCI a 1-0 lead. Junior Tanya Taylor (Buena Park/Sunny Hills HS) put UCI up 2-0 after junior Milana Shabestari (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) stole the ball and found her inside the box in the 84th minute.

Junior keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had two saves as she earned her second shutout of the weekend. Keeper Alexa Arsenault had eight saves in the first half and Laura Arnold had five saves in the second half for the Falcons.

The ‘Eaters will return home Friday as they host Washington at 7:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium.
