UC Irvine men lose to UC Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 23 UC Irvine men’s soccer team (6-3) lost 1-0 to No. 7 UC Santa Barbara Sunday night in Big West Conference play at Harder Stadium.

The Gauchos were awarded a penalty kick in the 21st minute. Waid Ibrahim converted the kick for what would be the eventual game-winner.

Junior keeper Victor Chinchilla (Palmdale/Taft College) had three saves in his first career match in net for the ‘Eaters. Keeper Sam Hayden had five saves for UCSB.

The ‘Eaters return home Wednesday to face UC Davis at 7:00 p.m. in Big West Conference action at Anteater Stadium.
