Updated: October 4, 2009
HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 4, 2009 – James Madison junior Cate Tisinger (Clifton, Va./Centreville) scored the game’s only goal early in the second half to give the Dukes a 1-0 victory over visiting Georgia State in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer Sunday afternoon at the JMU Soccer Complex.

JMU improved its record to 7-5-0 and 3-1-0 in CAA play.  Georgia State's record is 6-4-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the league.

The winning play started on a free kick by sophomore Lisa Heise (Brandon, Fla./Nease) to junior Teresa Rynier (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley).  Rynier lofted a ball down the field to Tisinger on the right endline.  Tisinger sent a shot that curved into the far corner of the goal at the 5:15 mark of the second period.

JMU redshirt junior goalkeeper Diane Wszalek (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) made four saves to get her second complete-game shutout of the season.

Panthers junior goalkeeper Heidi Blankenship (Indianapolis, Ind./Avon) made nine saves, including a shot by redshirt senior Teri Maykoski (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) in the 25th minute that she tipped over the crossbar.  In the 61st minute she made a kick save on a point-blank shot by senior Corky Julien (Williamstown, Ontario/Char-Lan District), and in the 73rd minute she made a leaping save on another Maykoski shot.

For the game JMU held a 21-7 advantage in shots.
