After a scoreless first half, Stanford's Bobby Warshaw put the Cardinal ahead with a header from a Garrett Gunther corner kick at the 55:38 mark. Stanford made it 2-0 at 75:46 on a breakaway goal by Evan Morgan.

The Bruins were stymied by Stanford goalkeeper John Moore, who made nine saves on their 16 shots, including four in the second half. Kyle Nakazawa had four of his six shots saved by Moore. UCLA goalkeeper Brian Perk had four saves.

The Bruins' record moves to 9-2-2, 4-1-2 in the Pac-10. Stanford improves to 9-4-1, 3-3-1 in the Pac-10. UCLA still sits atop the Pac-10 standings with 14 points.
