UC Irvine women beat Long Beach State

IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (12-6-2, 4-3-1) defeated Long Beach State 3-0 Thursday night in Big West play at Anteater Stadium.

Freshman Devon Delarosa (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS) passed the ball up to junior Alyssa Humphrey (Santa Margarita HS) who took a chance from 30 yards out on the left side and she put UCI up 1-0 in the 21st minute as the ball went into the upper right corner of the net. Senior Kate Berrini (Foster City/Notre Dame HS) collected a ball from the defense and launched it from 40 yards out over the reach of the keeper and under the cross bar to put UCI up 2-0 in the 59th minute. Sophomore Lexi Kopf (Sonora HS) was fouled just inside the box giving UCI a penalty kick. Sophomore Judy Christopher took the kick and converted for a 3-0 Anteater lead in the 77th minute.

Junior keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had three saves while earning her eighth shutout of the season. Keeper Nicoline Jorgensen had three saves for the 49ers.

The 'Eaters close out the regular season Sunday as they host Gonzaga at 1:00 p.m. in non-conference play at Anteater Stadium.
