Washington State women beat Oregon

Updated: November 2, 2009
EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomore Ali Fenter and senior Carly Dobratz scored first half goals and No. 19 Washington State defeated Oregon 2-0 in Pacific-10 Conference women’s soccer, Sunday.

Fenter gave the Cougars (13-4-1, 5-1-1 Pac-10) a 1-0 lead with a header off a free kick from Jacquelyn Roth at 40:27. The goal came after a yellow card was issued to Taylor Jones of Oregon (8-9-1, 0-7-0 Pac-10).

Just 1:20 later, senior Kiersten Dallstream received a free kick, and slipped a pass through defenders to Dobratz who beat Ducks’ goalkeeper Jessie Prouix inside the far post to give the Cougars a 2-0 advantage.

“I am delighted with our effort today and this weekend,” WSU Head Coach Matt Potter said. “Obviously to get two Pac-10 road wins is a very good weekend for us. We took advantage of our opportunities and gave a professional performance.”

The Cougars play host to USC, Friday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.
