WILMINGTON, N.C. – Junior Allen Lomax’s goal in the 32nd minute lifted No. 22 UNC Wilmington past Old Dominion, 1-0, in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association soccer tournament on Friday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks, the top seed in the tournament, advanced to their first-ever CAA title game and will face third-seeded Northeastern on Sunday at 1 p.m.

UNCW ran its unbeaten streak to a school-record 12 games and improved to 13-2-4 on the season. The Monarchs, who were the fourth seed, had a brief three-game winning streak halted and finished its season with an 11-5-1 mark.

On the game’s only goal, junior Tyler Clare began the play on the left flank with a short pass to a streaking Lomax, who took one touch and fired his shot just inside the far right post from 20 yards out at the 31:37 mark.

UNCW junior goalkeeper Brock Duckworth, a second-team All-CAA selection, posted his career-high seventh shutout and made three saves on the evening. Duckworth, who entered the match as the nation’s leader in save percentage, raised his percentage to .895.

The Seahawks limited the Monarchs to one shot in the first half and finished with a 9-4 advantage in shots.

ODU’s Evan Newton finished with three saves, including two in the second half.
