UC Irvine men beat Wisconsin

IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 12 UC Irvine men's soccer team (2-0) defeated Wisconsin 1-0 Monday evening to win the UC Irvine College Classic at Anteater Stadium.


Senior Corey Attaway (Chino HS) headed in a throw in by junior Jimmy Turner (Mission Viejo HS) in the 14th minute to UCI up 1-0. Attaway was named the UCI College Classic MVP after scoring both game-winning goals in the tournament for the Anteaters.


Junior goalkeeper Andrew Fontein (Las Vegas, Nev./Sierra Vista HS) had two saves as he earned his third straight shutout of  the season. Keeper Ryan Vint had six saves for the Badgers.


The ‘Eaters travel to San Diego Friday to face Oakland in the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Tournament at 1:30 p.m. at the SDSU Sports Deck.
