Georgetown women beat Seton Hall

Updated: September 26, 2010
WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Fifteenth-ranked Georgetown used two goals within three minutes of each other late in the second half to defeat the Pirates, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at North Kehoe Field snapping their five-match winning streak.

Kelly D’Ambrisi scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 74th minute while Kaitlin Brenn added the insurance tally in the 77th minute.

The Pirates (6-4, 2-1) had not allowed a goal in eight-straight halves dating back to their match against Cornell on September 10 until D’Ambrisi’s shot from inside the box sailed past Jennifer Pettigrew (Kearny, N.J.) just inside the far post.  Just three minutes later, Ingrid Wells and Brenn played a give-and-go with Wells’ pass finding Brenn alone in the box for her second of the season.

Despite the two goals, Pettigrew finished with five saves on 20 total shots from the Hoyas (8-3, 2-1).  Nicki Gross (Emerson, N.J.) recorded a team-high three total shots, however Jackie Desjardin turned aside the one shot on goal from Marie Klemme (Neuenhagen, Germany).

Seton Hall returns home on Friday for a BIG EAST Conference match-up against Providence.  Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
