UC Irvine men draw with Drake

Des Moines, Iowa – Ninth-ranked UC Irvine and Drake deadlocked 1-1 in double overtime at Cownie Stadium Saturday.

 

After a scoreless first half, UC Irvine scored on a goal by senior Gray Bailey at 55:15. Bailey scored his third goal of the year on a header from a Christian Hernandez corner kick. Drake responded two minutes later with a goal by Thomas Ostrander (57.41) in the lower right corner of the cage.

 

The Anteaters controlled the action with 20 shots on goal to the Bulldogs’ 10.  UCI also held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.

 

UC Irvine goalkeeper Andrew Fontein recorded four saves, while Drake’s Jordan Kadlec had nine saves in the tie.

 

UC Irvine goes to 8-1-2 overall and Drake is 4-5-1.
