DAVIS, Calif. --- Ninth-ranked UC Irvine scored three goals in a nine-minute span of the second half to record a 3-0 victory over UC Davis under the lights Wednesday night at Aggie Stadium in Davis.

Spencer Thompson, Amani Walker and Gray Bailey notched the goals for the ‘Eaters, who improved to 9-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big West.

Thompson opened the scoring at 60:46 on a rebound following a shot by Miguel Ibarra that was stopped by Aggie keeper Omar Zeenni.  It was Thompson’s fifth goal of the season.

Walker earned his Big West-leading sixth goal of the year, scoring off a cross from Thompson at 67:08.

Bailey scored his fourth goal of the season, touching in a shot at 69:10 after Zeenni fumbled a long throw-in by Jimmy Turner.

UCI junior keeper Andrew Fontein picked up his ninth shutout of the season and the 18th of his career, which ranks No. 1 in the Anteater record book.

The ‘Eaters return to action Saturday night at 7:00, hosting Cal Poly in a Big West match at Anteater Stadium.
