James Madison women fall to georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga., Oct. 8, 2010 - Georgia State's Sarah Bennett scored 5:04 into overtime to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer Friday evening.

The Panthers, who won their third game in a row, improved their overall record to 10-3-1 and their CAA record to 3-1-0.  Georgia State has won six of its last seven matches.

JMU, which saw its winning streak end at three games, has a 7-6-0 overall record and a 3-1-0 CAA record.

A late goal by Dukes' freshman Lauren Wilson (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown) forced overtime play.  Wilson scored with just 1:07 left in regulation.  The goal was assisted by junior Yolie Anderson-Golhor (Ottawa, Ontario/Louis-Riel).

Georgia State's Jewel Evans scored to give her team a 1-0 lead with 6:55 left in the first half.

JMU out-shot Georgia State by a 14-11 margin, but Panthers' goalkeeper Kellianne Collns made eight saves, including a stop on a penalty shot by freshman Becky Sparks (Laurel Springs, N.J./Paul VI) with 16 seconds left in the game.  JMU redshirt senior goalkeeper Diane Wszalek (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East).finished with five saves.
