UC Irvine men draw with Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. --- Seventh-ranked UC Irvine and Cal Poly played to a 0-0 draw in a Big West Conference game at Alex G. Spanos Stadium in San Luis Obispo Saturday night.

The Anteaters (10-1-2 overall, 3-0-1 Big West) are undefeated in their last seven games.  The Mustangs are now 4-5-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the conference.

UCI outshot Cal Poly, 20-12, including 7-0 in the second overtime period.  The ‘Eaters had nine corner kicks to the Mustangs’ three in the game.

UCI junior keeper Andrew Fontein recorded four saves in his 10th shutout of the season and 19th of his career.

Amani Walker had four shots, including two on goal.

UCI returns to action Wednesday night, traveling to Cal State Northridge for a 7:00 Big West game against the Matadors.
