If you are talking about college sponsored ID camps (i.e. Texas A&M Soccer Camp each summer), then yes, they are a huge advantage for coaches like Coach G at A&M to get a head start on evaluating potential prospects at an early age. These summer camps are for boys and girls in the 6-18 age range, and most will have a separate girls camp for the 11-18 age range specifically for coaches to evaluate these girls in their own camp setting. Camps at places like A&M, UNC, UCLA, Santa Clara, Portland, etc. really help those head coaches to already know about young players that are just joining some of the top club programs around the country. It certainly helps in your regional area, so coaches like Coach G already know about all the top prospects in Texas before many other coaches around the country do. There is nothing wrong with this, however, as it is all perfectly within the rules. Soccer currently has some of the most lenient NCAA rules as far as recruiting goes, so coaches are going to take advantage of it until the rules change.

considering the girls don't play at the academy showcases, I'm not too worried about your assessment.

Big-time player. Scores lots of goals, scores goals in big games. I saw her do it again yesterday in the regional semifinal.

No doubt there are other great players in her class and some of them are also given a top rating, but she's right there with them, no question.
